"Kasja and me, we first met virtualy via a social network. I think it was 2006. Both not really known for Pop, we decided making a "Pop-album", uh uh uh. Writing novels about the project was cumbersome and skype is not my favourite communication tool. Therefore I took a ride to Antwerp, Belgium were Kasja has her homebase. It was a warm welcome. We had a great time jamming and sharing our ideas. Back in the studio I've started writing and producing. After some month we had a couple of tracks and a weird experience poped up: our perception what Pop stands for (especially on the album) was pretty different. Hard to believe that we were able finishing the album. We've reached a point were it was hard to develop a common understanding what we want (and what not). To keep a long story short, "and the silences provokes a flash of lightning" has a disjointed character. It is not strictly Pop. There are also Kraut and Experimental influences. But there are still "Pop songs" where especially Kasja performs not from this world. Simply brilliant. For example check "Granajola".

I do not remember we've decided to make a pop album:-):-), because the files Johan send me were not poppy at all.... it was quite confusing for me because all sorts of ideas emerged like a tornado, and we started to make very diffrent styles of songs... but we did... and indeed there were two poppy-like songs also... At a certain moment Johan decided to come to Antwerp to brainstorm and we visited some friends like Pat Riské in Tielrode and Erik Audobert in Brussels who was part of Grisumbraevanethra also a project released on Krautnoise label. It was a nice meeting on a certain moment overshadowed by some talks about Sabam... and then we gave the problem the name"Sabamism". I'm not at all concentrated on these things, and therefor I couldn't make clear what I really wanted to say about it........ this topic became hilarious.... but I do not remember to have jammed at that time... I do not remember eather we had diffrent point of view about popsongs..... since I have no clear definition about styles... What I know and remember....we had diffrent opinion what to put together on the album.... I would opt for a more ...like we call it here... a complete album with poppy-like songs. In fact I see in the Granajola album , not one but three not complete albums..... for me the Album like it is now ....seems a very strange combination for me...but at least it is surprising:-):-) The fact that Johan says about the poppy songs.... brilliant ......of course it flatters and suits me.... :-), but of course probabely it was also because of the music he had made first ... I just tried to catch the sphere ,wrote the lyrics ,closed my eyes and indeed I was not in this other world... for the song Karoo he gave me some info about the place and what happened there....based on that info i've made the song.... All by all our collaboration is not the easiest one because often we seem not quite understand each other and misunderstandings pop up ....... and now I understand why Johan talks about "pop" . Happily we have on critical moments a strange humour that keep us going on. Like on the moment Johan has planned a release of a most precious project of me"When the Pythia mumbles". It is very dear to me because it is a part of my installation-project "Pythia links to Pythagoras" and the second part "Transcendence". KasjaNoova 09/2010
